[ Article ] Tony Reyna, long time Koshare friend from Taos Pueblo, gave us this picture of him when he was Governor of the Pueblo. He is holding the famous silver headed canes that are the symbol of authority for the Pueblo Governors.

[ Article ] The original painting by Roy Anderson for the April 1984 issue of Boy's Life, was presented to the Koshares by Mr. Bill Downs. Mr. Downs is the Circulation Director of Boy's Life and made a special trip to La Junta for the presentation at one of the Summer Shows. Mr. Downs has been a visitor to the Kiva several times.

[ Article ] This is one of Imhof's great stone lithograph pictures called "Geronimo." We now have over 40 of Joseph Imhof's great pictures. At the present time they are on exhibit in the Green Room at the Museum.

[ Article ] Mr. Jim Mills, former Art Editor of the Denver Post and a Koshare friend, gave the Museum three lithographs and five charcoal drawings by Joseph Imhoff. Also included was a Gregory Perillo print and several photographs. Several books were included in this generous gift from Mr. Mills, which we were happy to receive for our library. Marvin Holbrook set up a special exhibit in the Museum of our Imhof paintins and included these so that our friends visiting the museum could enjoy our Imhof collection.

[ Article ] In June our great friend Julian Salomon of Upper Saddle River, NJ, donated some outstanding Indian artifacts to the Museum. Included were a Maria jar, circa 1950, a black place signed "Maria Popovi," circa 1950, two Hopi bowls, one by Nellie Nampeyo and the other by Fannie Nampeyo, Hopi and Papago basketry, a Kachina doll he collected in 1924, a Zuni owl and several other pieces of Hopi pottery. Several other interesting items were included in the gift. Mr. Salomon is an old friend and has donated other artifacts from his collection to the Museum. On Buck's trips to Mexico he visits Mr. and Mrs. Salomon in Oaxaca where they spend the winter.

We appreciate the Old Koshares donating their costumes to the Museum, especially their eagle feather war bonnets. Old Koshares who have, so far, sent in their bonnets are Robert McKay, Gerald Canfield, William Crouch, Kenneth Pearson, Jackson Dillard and Mac McCall. We would hope that other Koshares return their bonnets to be put in the Museum.

Old Koshare Robert McKay donated to the Museum his costume and eagle feather bonnet, along with his collection of records and uniforms acquired during his time with the U.S. Public Service. Robert lives in Tucson and the fine costume he made as a Koshare is an inspiration to our new members.

The Museum has been sorely in need of new fire extinguishers and the La Junta Lions Foundation came to our rescue. At a regular meeting of the Lions, Mr. Dan Noller, President of the Foundation, presented Buck with a check for $375 to purchase three fire extinguishers. Thanks Lions for your help.

The Koshares always drum up a football game after meetings, and recently Greenstreet Distributers, local Coors supplier, donated a football to the great delight of the kids.
