Koshares Travel Far and Wide
For the last seventy-five years the Koshares have traveled regionally, nationally and internationally performing their famous dance styles. In 2007, the Koshares departed the United States for Japan to performed fifteen shows in the cities of Tokyo, Yamagata, Shonai and Nanao. One year prior the Koshares traveled east to perform in Washington, D.C.; Kansas; Kentucky and Maryland. In addition, the Koshares receive many requests for short trips (less than 300 miles) within and around the state of Colorado performing for schools, groups, businesses, and conventions. Groups have also booked the Koshares for conventions and events in the town of La Junta.
Review From Noted Critic John Chapman
Of their performance, the noted New York drama critic once wrote, "I have been to many spectacles, from Madison Square Garden and the New Amsterdam Theatre to the Hollywood Bowl and the Santa Anita race track, and there is nothing in my memory to match a performance of these Boy Scouts which was recently given at the Red Rock Theatre, up in the hills from Denver."
Why Sponsor a Show?
Renown Entertainers
For over 75 years, the Koshares have studied, honored, preserved and presented their interpretation of Native American culture and through their performances coast to coast and border to border, earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest dance troupes in America.
Quality Performances
The Koshares are performing artists at a very professional level, who spend hundreds of their own dollars on their regalia and thousands of hours in research, outfit construction and rehearsal. Their interpretation of the Native American's song and dance created a their reputation as one of the best known Scout Troops in the United States.
Collect Ticket Sales
If your goal is to use the Koshare show as a fundraiser, profit-maker or benefit you may be interested in bringing the Koshares to your town. The sponsor determines ticket prices using our home show ticket prices (Adults $10, Students $5) as a guide. After the Koshares receive their show fee, all other proceeds go to the sponsor - and it can be a considerable amount if the show is well promoted.
Supporting A Cause
The Koshares is an education program funded through our performances. In the last seventy-five years ninety percent (90%) of Koshares have gone on to college after graduating high school. Of the six hundred Eagle Scouts graduated from the Koshare program more than a hundred hold doctorate degrees. Koshare alumni live in every state of the union and host outstanding alumni ranging from college presidents, doctors, lawyers, professors, judges, military officers and other who's who in American leaders.
Not only are show sponsors proud that they are a part of the reason for an impressive statistic, but audience members leave a show feeling they have made a difference in the life of a child by attending the performance.
Flexibility
The Koshares have a wide range of performances, from a full show for several thousand people to small, intimate performances for just a few. Although most sponsors are looking for a full performance the Koshares have done several events and dedications involving appearances or a few dances. Just a few of several memorable events include an opening blessing for Lee Greenwood, a dance for a funeral horse's funeral, a part in the play Annie Get Your Gun and Tuyoni (An orchestra piece with Native dancing).
