The first National Jamboree was to be held in Washington, D.C. in 1935 but was canceled due to the polio epidemic. In 1937, the Jamboree that these nine Koshares traveled to became the first National Jamboree. Ralph Hubbard helped escort these Koshares to Washington, D.C. During the jamboree they worked with Carl Parlasca and his Big Timber Dancers from Elgin, IL. The Jamboree was held on the site of what is now the Lady Byrd Johnson Memorial Park. |
