What Others Are SayingLa Junta has the nicest folks - awesome people who love their town and make a supreme effort to let visitors know what a great place this is to live. We went to see the Koshare Indian Museum and watch the Koshare Dancers. It was a performance that rates a big Ten in entertainment. Thank you for a splendid experience. The Koshares showed me a lot of the world that I did not know. I hope I can meet the Koshares next year (in Yamagata, Japan). I love the Koshares eternally. We went and saw the performance before I went to Philmont, was a great experience and the area where the performance took place was just amazing and how all the logs on the roof were. So many wonderful memories. I came to the Kiva and watched the dancers in the summer of 1964. It made such an impression that I have taken my son's scout troop to the Kiva twice. I had a chance to take a troop of Cub Scouts to watch a performance, it was amazing!! You should be proud of yourselves, many Scouts look up to you. I visited the Koshare Museum on my way to Philmont during the summer of 1970 and have never forgotten it. Found an old pressed penny of your great facility. I will return one day. Many found memories of our stops there on our trips to Philmont in the late 80s and early 90s. I was part of the Golden High School history trip, and wanted to say thanks for letting us use the Kiva. It was truly a unique experience. I loved the Indian Dances, especially the hoop dance! -- Golden, Colorado Happy to see that the tradition continues. I visited the Kiva with Jamboree Troop 53 (NJ) in 1960 and had the pleasure of seeing the Koshare Dancers perform. It was the highlight of our Jamboree experience. We take our scouts every winter to coincide with the reenactment at Bent's Old Fort. This is a great planning event the first weekend of December. I was there in the summer of 2003 on the way back from Philmont. Hope to stay again in the summer of 2006. |
